monitor mounted speakers???

I am just about to buy a new 21 inch CRT monitor, but it hasnt got onboard speakers.
Can I buy speaker packs that I can mount / stick on the side of my new monitor????
If the answer is yes, then can anyone recommend a brand and where to buy them? ( I am in the UK )

Thanks in advance

Don't know of any add-on monitor hanging speakers - I have a feeling they gave up on the idea with the growth in trinitron type tubes, as their shadow mask is not as rigid against vibration.

If you just want to make some noise, Ebuyer have some insanely cheap speakers .... like the £5 computer fair ones.

Another system the used to be around (not seen lately) was the monitor base speaker - which would actually be a good idea now, as without a desktop case to stand on, the monitor could often do with a little extra height ... did I say I HATE minitower cases!

Its not recommended to have unshielded speakers (magnetic source) near a screen. They may distort the shadow mask and cause permanent damage.

Computer speakers are normally shielded, but such close spacing is probably not taken into account - mine radiate 50Hz interference from the PSU, and if trying to velcro, the one with the PSU in it is probably going to be too heavy.

The magnetic shielding is not "mu-metal" (too expensive!), so the usual level of shielding is only that the speaker magnet assembly is steel enclosed, to collect any open-pole field. Some field still escapes though.

but the sound from these speakers ain't of lower quality or more or less the same of std speakers?
