Missing an audio-codec! Which?

I've just ripped a movie using Gordian Knot, divx 5.05.. Great quality, it's just that I get no sound, which kind of ruins the whole experience..

I ran GSpot to try and find the codec I was missing, but it just reported it was unable to find a codec which will decompress the audio format. I got this message: "0xfffe: unknown"

These are all the codecs I've got installed:

Divx 5.05 Pro (Encoding)
Divx 5.05 Pro (Decoding)
Divx MPEG-4 Low/Fast motion (v4.10.3927)
XviD - Koepi 03/05/05 (Encoding)
XviD - Koepi 04/10/02 (Decoding)
Windows Media 8/9 codecs
WMA Audio
AC3 Audio
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 DirectShow Decoder (v1.90.311)
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 ACM Codec (v1.90.305)
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 ACM Codec (v1.20.63)
3ivx (v4.04)
MS MPEG-4 (v4.10.3927 / 8.00.4487)
Cyberlink DVD Decoder (v4.00.2417)
Ligos MPEG-2 Decoder (v4.0.77)
Huffyuv (v2.11)
Ligos Indeo XP (v5.2)
Ogg Vorbis Audio DirectShow Filter (v0.995)
Ogg Vorbis ACM (v0.0.31)

If anyone knows of an audio codec which is more or less common, which I don't have, then give me a hint.

Also I wondered  ... Could it be that I'm NOT missing a codec? Well, I did encode the audio of this movie, strange that I can't decode the same format which I encoded..
I looked up which codecs are contained in the 'Gordian Knot Codec Pack' (which I don't have) and found that I don't have installed the following codecs/filters:
- Mpgaudioax
- Morgan Stream Switcher
So I wonder if this might be the missing files.. Am I 'way out'? Or what do you think?

I loaded it in VirtualDUB.. But in the preference section it just says 'Unknown [tag FFFE]' about the audio stream

Sorry, did not read well first post:confused:

Info about GSpot deleted, don't know is it better to delete the whole post, mine of course:confused:

@jasmin, they already said they used GSpot. If you create something then you really should know what you created.

Looks like someone installed the KazaaLite codec pack?

Not used GordianKnot in awhile, but as far as I know it only did mp3 or AC3.

Mpgaudio.ax is used to pass AC3 from AVI's
Morgan Stream Switcher is used for AVI's with multiple audio sources. If you use media player classic, you don't need either.

Personally I would probably just re-encode the AC3 to mp3 and then mux it with the video you already have. Well ok, I would use Vorbis and mux it into a mkv or ogm instead of an AVI.

Well.. I thought I knew what I created, but then it didn't create what I thought it did

Hmm... If I ripped the movie to my HD with Ogg audio format, and then encodec the movie in Mp3.. Should that be a problem?

I'm kind of a rookie when it comes to ripping movies

I just deleted the AVIs, and I'll try doing it all over again.. Selecting VariableBR mp3 160 for both ripping and encoding.. I'll report if I get it to work the way I want it to this time around

Yes but.. 1. ripping the vob's to my HD.. 2. encoding the movie to AVI..

So AVI doesn't support vrb audio.. so you're saying I should go for cbr instead? Doesn't vbr work at all with AVI ?

You can use VBR mp3 in an AVI, however the AVI container doesn't actually support vbr mp3's. The only reason you can do it is because of a hack done by nando (creator of nandub).

I actually created many AVI's with vbr mp3 streams before I moved onto different container formats and they all work fine, I just thought that you should be aware that it is a breach of AVI specs before you go and do it.
