One of my mates has bought a mirror 117 dvd writer (dvd+) which turns out to be a nec1000a dvd writer. has anyone got one of these? any ideas of where to find compatability charts for the media for this drive. NEC website does'nt even show this model (must be a good writer then lol).
my mate is one of those blokes who has a little bit of knowledge (which we all know is dangerous) and he likes to think he can just plug it in and go. for instance he runs win98 and just presumed he could backup dvd's the second his drive was in lol (fat32 HD drive no chance) he can't understand why he can't backup dvd's.NTFS is the way to go me thinks.
any more info on the nec1000a would be great. I have heard a rumour that the 1000a is the same drive as 1100a and a firmware upgrade for a 1100a might turn the drive into a 4x writer can anyone confirm or dismiss this for me.
