MIRC 6.01 no ident!

I keep seeing this asked but no one answers on the NG's with what is being asked.

I have a machine running mIRC and win98 and all is OK on DALNET.

I have a new machine going through same router and it has XP PRO and mIRC 6.01.

I have the XP firewall off and mIRC works but will not connect to DALNET. I have identd enabled...any ideas?

but u are able to go on the internet broswing/downloading with the xp pc right ?

Are you using a single ip shared (NAT) or using multiple IP addresses, in which case you should have 3 for; if im not mistaken, the ethernet router/modem, pc-win98 and pc-winXP.

You shouldnt have any problems if ur using multiple ip. If you're using NAT (single IP) then that might be a cause of the problem. DALNET along with a number of other miRC server networks do ident checks - (the ident - i think is unique to ip, given by your isp), so two pcs sharing the same ip will end up getting the same ident result. Maybe DALNET doesnt allow shared Ip/ident?

You could try entering your own ident details into mIRC and see if it helps.

Thanks. I am using 1 ip with the SMC router giving the required response to ATTBI. All is OK on ALL systems. I have XP PRO on the system that works (dual boot) so I will put mirc on that XP partition. If it works, it is what you think. If not, then it is something in XP. I did not expect this on the new P4 system. All else works...ftp, web, and even Mirc...as long as I do not try DALNET.

Nah dont think its anything wrong with the network setup or windows xp - it just how DALNet works, I suppose.

FIXED! I had router forwarding Port 113 to BOTH machines! Bad config, surprised it let me save it that way!

Yes, initd is on port 113.

How do you configure that port in mirc?

mpsan did exactly configure the port in mIRC, it was his router/modem he configured for port forwarding

what i suggested was to complete the ident information in mIRC, maybe help speed up the process when u encounter it on connecting to mIRC servers.
