have been making dvd-r backups now for some months with no real problems.
using smart ripper,dvd2avi,tmpeg,dvd movie factory. have done about 35 backups ok inc latest LOR movie.
it takes time but batch encoding is a wonderful thing. i also use a regcleaner which i think helps a lot. i'm happ with this method and If it aint broke don't fix it!
anyway to the minor problems
1. tried to backup region 1 dvds but when processed they are a bit jumpy and subsequent region 2 backups are fine. is this something to do with the different frame rate for region 1 dvds? or what.
2. I am using an AO3 writer and on two occasions now I have written a dvd using the above method one on a dvd-rw and one on a dvd-r but they will only read on the writer and if i go through the same again the disc read on everything is this a known issue or just a blip? maybe with moviefactory or writer?
