Thanx for all the great tips. am starting to learn a little now and getting some good backups. just one problem though how can i keep the main menu on a dvd with just the play film icon working. am using nero to burn and when a edit all the crap am left with a 3sec clip of the menu then it goes straight to film. how can i get this icon working?

you sound like you are just copying the menu and movie VOB's. You lose the menu functionality this way

are you using DVDShrink's reauthor or something else to edit the DVD?

you must use one of the stripping tools available to remove all the crap but do it properly. Depending on what you really want to do and how the DVD is built depends on what tools you use

dvdshrink always tells me it cant do menus when a go through re-author. so a backup the full dvd then try and edit using nero, then a get the problem a explained before. having looked at the link u left dont think nero can edit the menu files properly. cheers.
