i had me as my first os with a hp comp.
i soon went to the xp,it wiped the floor & as you will see less rebooting.can have loads of things running without the crashing.
you will be better just doing a reformat than the update.me dosnt go to well with xp.the best one to go with xp is win2k.
but believe me you will never use anyother as xp seems loads better.
me is the fat & xp can go both.but you will find that a update seems to take 2/3 gs where xp on its own is roughly 1.5gs.
i had no driver for my dvd after updating to xp also my extra keys on the hp keyboard wouldnt work properly.
finaly aol7 dosnt like xp had to use aol6 with the aol7 tel nos .
also my cannon printer wouldnt install properly even with the xp disk.but saying that my £300 hp printer is a swine to install on xp.can use most of it but not to the full.
the dvd driver will install itself with the windvd,& i think power dvd also.
the 56k modem driver will only install through the control/system/hardware/devicemanager.thats the only way.i have cable bb now so thats a blessing.
i use power quest 8 to partition my drive up as its easy to alter the drives ect.
the one thing is if you install me & then xp you carnt delete me as it will hold xp setup files on it ect.
pluss if you are partioned having both viewable can also lead to problems with installing other apps.i recomend only having one active at the time.but you are best having only one os at the time.at least you wont have any probs with apps installing & deleting after.
