Well I'm not sure why your having a problem but I did find a program called lucifer, never tried it. But its free and it says it burns in dos. :) Also you may want to edit your text files and take out your serial. :) Hope that helps.

Zver,do your bios and os support drives larger than 137 GB?
Ok guys,first;I went to store and somehow changed for another one :)
i knew for a chkdisk but if the disk is broken,how to fix a hardware??
my os is xp-sp1 with that fix for above 137 gb,and new drive is showing 152 gb in explorer so should be ok.Now i got the question..
I never upgraded the bios.When i start the pc and click on f1 comes that dos bios thing and it says
phoenix cmos setup
bios core version6.0
bios revision3.09 date is 15/8/2002
Do i need to upgrade?
I remember duracell is always talking about upgrading the bios :)

now one off-topic question.Couse my pc is filled with hd-s,i have to make my burner external.Its a reegulardvd-cd writer ""lg"""and its internal drive.I got that external thingy and when i connect it on thry usb2.0 to pc,drive is showing in explorer,burns ok..everything looks fine..But since that is the only cd rom in my pc,sometimes i need to boot from it.For example acronis partion expert2003.To get it working you put in a cd.start in a pc aznd thats it..But how to make it working from a usb drive???
EDIT1;is that mean that my bios need a newer drivers,couse i cant see a ..cd rom when is connected over usb,but i see it when is normally connected

it can't fix broken hardware; :)
but if you have a partial faulty FAT/MFT only, the phenomenon may be the same, and the problem might be solvable by chkdsk;

a tool like the former AIDA32 :eek: may help you: http://www.lavalys.com/index.php?page=product&view=1
to provide us some additional info like: motherboard fabricator and model? chipset fabricator and model?

Just used some bios tool,and got this

Program: Unicore BIOS Agent Version 1.9
BIOS Date: 08/15/02
BIOS Type: Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG
BIOS ID: 08/15/2002-i845G-LPC47M1-6A69VF0KC
BIOS Eval: Copyright 2002 by Hewlett Packard Company Rev.VG31309
Chipset: Intel 2560 rev 1

I checke d a phoenix site and they dont have a drivers,check a drivers site-only drivers for vin98 are there??
Can some good soul help me out couse im lost here as i never even tryed to update a bios :confused:

I believe your chipset (845G) supports drives larger than 137G- in fact I have a server based on 845 myself, but no HD bigger than 120GB on it (yet).
You will need a. latest BIOS revision installed- you must get it from HP (sigh...) and not from Phoenix, if it's not available (quite likely) feel free to flame them-, b. OS which supports the ATA-6 protocol (that is 2000 SP3+ or XP SP1+ or Linux kernel rev. 2.4.11+), plus for Window the latest chipset driver from Intel.

Before installing this new driver you must install the MS patch KB 822603 ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];822603 ) else your USB ports may be rendered unusable.
In some cases 48-bit logical block addressing (necessary for support of drives larger than 137G) has to be enabled manually, or it won't work:

scarecrow linked you to the proper chipset drivers already; so now i try to help you with the BIOS; Phoenix doesn't distribute updates, you have to get them from your motherboard fabricator;

i searched around at HP's; like scarecrow already said, it's an Intel 845G chipset; the BIOS ID and Rev# didn't help me by searching;
so you need to know the exact model name of your PC (e.g. HP Pavilion PC Model 9995 (US/CAN)), then you have to follow this step by step tutorial: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00048618#N1006B

Guys,i dont know what i would do without you :) :)
But actually,before i start this oddysey-is it any way to test this drive which i ehcenged..couse i dont wanna latter surprise and to loose another x gb of files..how i can test if the hard drive is good or not??mean to test writing,reading,bad sectors??
just to clarify;i dont care really about speed,perfomance compared to other drives and such..
I just wanna be sure that hd is techically 100% working..so if you know of such a tool,please let me know :)

you can't go 100% sure;
every HDD fabricator provides a DOS tool to run a complete read/write/read test; run this test a few times;

most HDDs becoming sick because steady high temperature near the self shut down threshold; another problem are mechanical shocks;
so add an good HDD cooler and don't kick your PC if Windows does things you don't won't; :D
