Found this at a site that I check out daily. Been thinking I could use another hard drive. Could anybody vouch for Maxtor? Good, bad, ugly? Please chime in with your opinions as I don't know if Maxtor is quality stuff or not. The deal is good till 08/24 so I need to decide soon.

This drive is great. ATA 133, I bought one on the same deal and sold it in 1 hour for $65.00. I've got 125GB right now and had no use for it. Good luck finding one though, everyone is buying these drives and the website has been out of stock most of the time.

wish I could find a deal like that. Buying another one exactly like that tomorrow for $73USD brand new (though I only have to pay a difference for a 20G I am trading, so only cost me $19USD lol).
Still $19 is double the cost of $9.99.

Thanks for making me aware to the Office Depot Maxtor 40GB hard drive offer. I just made a visit to my local Office Depot store and purchased the Maxtor 40GB hard drive for $89.00 and got the two $30.00 mail-in rebate coupons (total $60.00) and plan to send then off shortly. Can’t beat getting a 7200RPM 40GB hard drive for $29.00!

I went to Office Depot today and they had the same drive for $99 rather than $89. Don't know why, any ideas?
Anyway, the two $30 rebates weren't even advertised, although I'm assuming this offer is valid at ANY Office Depot. I didn't buy it; I was in a hurry and didn't have time to find an employee for questions. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and make sure the price is correct and that the rebates do exist. If so, I'll buy one, even if the price does turn out to be $99 -- the rebates still make it a good deal.

Check that site frequently. They collect the info on great deals for you. I've seen CDRW drives, CD-Rs, video cards, accessories, etc., dirt cheap and I've even seen rebates that result in YOU receiving money in the end, beleive it or not.

I have checked at Office depot website about those rebate. I think there might be some confusing about $30 rebate for 40GB (internal) and other $20/$30 40GB USB2.0(external). Can anyone confirm about the rebates?

Coaster, How come you got only (2) $30 rebate? From dealunibersity you should have total of 3 rebates, $20, $30 and $30, right? But i can say $29.99 for 40 GB, that's a very good deal, indeed:D :D

the reason he only got two rebates is because the $20 coupon is only available if you order online. The two $30 dollar rebates are mail-in, meaning that purchases in the store OR online will be valid for the two $30 rebates.

To see what I mean, just click on the $20 coupon link at dealuniversity. The next screen will say something like "your coupon has been accepted, continue to shop". Notice this is a COUPON, not a REBATE, like the other two. It is only available if you order the drive from the internet.

If I'm wrong then somebody will correct me.

You have to check out each deal separately because each store might have a different policy. In other words, dealuniversity only FINDS the deals at the stores. They do not set each store's policy. Therefore, you must click on the specific deals you are interested in to find out about shipping out of the US.
