The big void!
The Pioneer 105 has ceased production.....but where is the 106?

Hello

The big void....the gap between the end of production of the Pioneer 105 DVD Rewriter and the official release of the Pioneer 106.
If you are thinking to yourself , "I'm ready to spend my money on a DVD Rewriter", you have a decision to make.....The biggest selling DVDR writer in the world - The Pioneer 105 - is about to be replaced by the Pioneer 106.
The question is do you buy a 105 now or do you wait for the 106?

Here are the major differences

Pioneer 105 Pioneer 106
Maximum write speed 4x 4x
Discs that can be used DVD-R
DVD-RW
CDR
CDRW
DVD-R, DVD+R
DVD-RW, DVD+RW

CDRW

Availability Available now, but production has ceased so stocks can only become harder to locate Officially released in approx 6 weeks.

Price Approx £140 Anticipated to be approx £165 - £175.
Some retailers will charge even more if supply is short !
(Some pre-release versions are being sold for as much as £300 !)
A full list of all the differences and a review of the Pioneer 106 is available HERE (Thank you Flash for the hard work)

....so the main benefit of the new 106 will be compatibility with DVD+R and DVD+RW media. This is where the big decision comes along.
Do you want to pay the extra for DVD+R and DVD+RW compatibility? For some people this will be yes, and others just want a disc that works and don't give a monkey if its a DVD+R/W or a DVD-R/W.

OK, you have the facts. The rest is up to you. The Pioneer 105 is now out of production, so our stocks of the Pioneer 105 will dry up over the next month.

There are of course other DVD rewriters available, some of them very popular, but the Pioneers are the biggest sellers, and in our view, very good value for money.
