After trying for several minutes to decipher your post, I have come to the conclusion that you should bite the bullet and buy a DVD burner. There is no way to compress video without some loss of quality. Some codecs are better than others. PM Chickenman and ask his opinion.

No please dont, I get to many PM's as it is now. The forum is for asking questions.

While DivX can turn a DVD into an avi that just fits to a CD, the quality is great but still far short of the original DVD. A lot depends on the original DVD also. If its a 2hr movie, then there is no way you can do that with good results. But if its a 90min dvd your backing up, then you can get close. The best DivX/Xvid avis are the ones that fit to 2x80min cdr's, now they are near the original DVD quality.

To join 2 mpeg files together, use TMPGEnc. In MPEG Utils section, select Merge&Cut. Load both in, mpeg one first, then two. Give an output name and select the type of mpeg they are (Video_CD or SVCD or whatever) then hit RUN.

I think maybe we should rename this forum from General Discussion to badboy2002's forum??

How many posts do you need on the same topic? You ask a question, I answer it, you ignore the answer and keep making the same mistakes.
