making music video

Hi, I would like to make a various artist music video from my collection of music video dvd's. Either burn them to dvd with my dvd burner or burn it to a vcd. Which would be easier and what programs could I use?

I would I guess say DVD as it would not involved re-encoding, that is unless the video's need shrinking.

Basically just rip each video, then author and burn.
