major headaches with JAVA not working properly !?

bleh having problems on my other puter thats running 98se and JAVA in INTERNET EXPLORER 6 :(

trying to load various shockwave games they fail to load :(

tried all the usual trouble shooting stuff and no luck :(

reinstalled microsoft VM

reinstalled sun's java latest release and still nothing !?

hacked the registery entries out that related to it ?!

used the full installer, used the web installer !?

still no use !?

scratching my head sore here over it !?

changed the JIT settings in internet tools messed with security settings !?

everything i can think of !? and ran out of ideas !?

any help appreciated :)

tried reinstall of shockwave and flash and it still says problems with java !? i think the shockwave site uses both shockwave and jave in one !?

Shockwave and java are two totally different things.
IE 6 on 98SE?! Hmmm... I wouldn't go further than 5.5 SP1 which has support for most (if not all) the NS plugins, this support was broken with SP2. And of course 5.5 is much better/faster than IE6.

yeah i know there different but for some unknown reasoning some shockwave games on shockwave.com need shockwave,java and flash to run !?:confused: if one is missing/faulty then it complains and does not load !???!

what made me think that java was corrupt is that it loads on mine and loads the 1.4.1 java and sits in the taskbar and the games load fine :)

on the other system it just shows the blank icon with the colored shapes in?!, where the java cup usually appears (top left corner) before the games load!, Then does nothing :(

I just reinstalled sun's 1.4.1 java as i think the 1.4.2 is corrupt or faulty !?

given up on that system for today spent long enuff sorting it lol or rather not sorting it :(

@scarecrow im thinkin that too about 5.5 there was no problems with the browser at all with 5.5 upgraded to 6 seems to be the problem will no doubt roll back to 5.5 tomorrow when my head hurts less from thinking lol :)
