I always like to do my DVD movie backups using Smartripper-> DVD2AVI-> CCE-> Maestro. During the process I also use ChapterXtractor to get the chapters, and SubRip for the subtitles.
With certain titles I would like to demux the mpeg2 stream so that I can avoid the CCE step. Unfortunately, with every program I have tried ( Smartripper, VOBRater, DVD Decryptor ), the demuxed mpeg2 file doesn't seem to work properly in Maestro. The mpeg2 file can be loaded, but when I try to add the chapter file from ChapterXtractor, the timing is all wrong. Sometimes, instead of 14 chapter breaks, I only get 2 ( and in the wrong places ). Similarly, the positions of the subtitles are off as well.
I suspect that the demuxed mpeg2 file includes extra information which confuses Maestro i.e. the demuxed mpeg2 file isn't the original raw mpeg2 file that was used to generate the VOB files. If this is correct, how can I demux the *raw* mpeg2 stream from a set of VOB files ?
Please don't tell me to use alternative methods such as DVD2One or Instant Copy, because I've tried them both, and not been satisfied with the quality of the results.
Thanks for your help.
