LTR-16102B Noisy recording

I hope someone can help me

My Daughter has a LTR-16102B CD writer; the same as mine.

Whereas I have no problems whatsoever, she gets a `crackling` noise at the beginning of any Audio CD's she burns, no probs with Data Cd's

I contacted the supplier whom siad it was a problem associated with the PC, not the CD writer.....typical !!!

Would a firmware upgrade solve it ? or is it faulty ?

Do LITEON Cd writers come with 1 or 2 year warranties....

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Copying or Mastering?
Copying - copy protected AudioCD?
Mastering - if you play back the audio file on your PC before burning, it's OK?

generally hints:
- check for a firmware upgrade
- try other/better media brands {e.g. TDK Reflex Ultra (are made by Tayo Yuden)}
- set burning speed 4 x (best solution for audio)

Plays ok from Hard drive
Have tried all speeds as low as 1
Tried various media
Will try firmware update....in progress

Can't find out if LITEON have a 1 or 2 year guarantee

Thanks

if firmware upgrade doesn't help, try to change your and your daughters writer; so you will be sure, if the writer or the PC is the troublemaker;
