Local Area Connection A network cable is unplugged!!!!

XP has a mind of its own.:p I tell XP to Always hide this icon (subject) but XP (Microcrap) keeps changing it to hide when inactive.
How do I get XP to stop showing this icon? Thanks.

I have two such icons on my tray (one from VMWare, the other one from my USB network cable which I use with my laptop) and they simply refuse to go... moreover when ONE of those connections is used then both icons disappear! Pretty typical MS magic, I simply gave up...

I´ve done this:

Disconnect your Lan cable to make the icon appear then at start menu right click and open properties, select task bar and then at bottom check "Hide inactive icons" then click at the button next to this (I´m not sure about the names in english because my XP is in spanish), you´ll see a list of all your notifications search for the icon in question and change it´s value to always hidden, and that´s it.
