Just ordered a LiteOn 48246S refurb from NewEgg. Was wondering if anybody has had any experiance with these refurb drives?

Considering its NewEgg, its probably O.K. Does it still have the same LiteOn warantee? Refurbs are a funny lot, as you never know why they were returned. Buyer changed mind, was dissatisfied, upgraded to faster drive, couldn't figure how to install it  , DOA, wouldn't work. Once that package is opened, it has to be sold as a refurb..... even if it was never used.

I used to deal with these returns a few years back and you would be suprised at perfectly good stuff being returned. It was usually some lame ass excuse, why it was not working. Perfectly good stuff..... user error. ;) Even still, some returns were bad/malfunctioning product. Many times it was easilly fixed, by the factory that is.

However, was it really that much cheaper for the refurb? I mean LiteOns are already a good deal for factory sealed. Was the refurb that good of a deal?!

Just make sure you have a good warantee, that the drive is in good physical shape, and sounds good mechanically. Burn a few test discs CDR and CDRW. If it passes muster, then I wouldn't be too worried.

Thank's for insight! Have done quite a bit of business over the last couple of year's with NewEgg and alway's no proboblem!

current prices of liteons at least here in the uk are £40 approx 59.8276 EURO'S or under for the latest models ?! pocket money prices and almost a giveaway !? how much cheaper could you possibly get than that !?

Thats for a new un-opened straight from the factory model too with the full warrenty :)
