Liteon 811S DVD-R/DVD+R Burning at 1x

New member
Hi, I have the above dvd writer and am using the Datawrite Red (V2) 4x DVD-R blank discs with Nero 6.
The problem is that I can only burn them at 1x. every now and then it will go to 2.4x.(about every 1 in 10 discs)
Ive done a few searchs and have DMA enabled...

Is there anything else I could try.....

Thanks...

Don't forget to leave out the big long number which is your serial which will be in the file a few times. :)

Ok will do....../where will i get it from/ :( :(
Well you don't say what OS you have but in XP you will find it in: C:\Program Files|Ahead\Nero and its called "NeroHistory.log"
Or you can try a search of your pc for just that file it will be a text file. :D

Just one more thing, don’t know if it makes any difference but, it’s the same thing if I 'copy on the fly' or straight from the HD.

PS your help is most appreciated

Well I see two things so far one is try a program like DVD Identifier to see who makes the media. For some reason Nero doesn't know who makes it which could mean its junk media. Also you could update nero and that could fix your problem. But tells us who makes the media cause you don't want to us junk cause you could find out in a little as six months your data could be unreadable. If nero doesn't know the media or its junk media Nero will burn at the lowest speed.

I found VIPER'S two cents on this media and I think he sums it up nicely.

that will be your problem reds suck even these new so called better V2 that you have there!......

I recently got a pack to experiment with as they were sposed to be better than the old type datawrite reds i tested with my new 107 pioneer the results were variable from 1 or 2 that worked to the almost rest of the whole 25 pack being jittery and skipping on playback so i took them back to my puter store and they replaced them for some others and ive not had any problems since :)

my thoughts on DATAWRITE RED AVOID :)

try different media :)
So I would say return that media and get some ritek G04 dye. :)

Tell you what I haven't used them but I do know that I've taking VIPER's word before and have never had a problem. So if VIPER said avoid I'm going to do just that.:) Most good place will take back junk media if they don't I wouldn't do business with them again. Try some RITEK G04s.

HS06 ?? - that's a very old firmware revision, and if there's one thing Liteon do in later firmware, it's "match more media".

HS0Q is the latest official, and there were several inbetween

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/patchers.html - use at your own risk - not sure if there's anything the patcher can do for an 811s, actually!
