Liteon 48/12/48 48125S Won't du UDMA only PIO..?!?!?!

Hi guyz..

got that 48x drive.. damn good but it won't do UDMA 2 like it's supposed to support so when I'm installing from it or burning CD's the PC is hardly usable since CPU usage is like 80% constant whereas my Pioneer which is UDMA is like at 10% CPU usage.

ANy one know a workaround??!?!

UDMA CD ROM support is enable in my BIOS and so are all other IDE boosting functions.

I have the following setup.

Epox SIS 648 based motherboard.
2,66 P4
Radeon9700
Audigy
Raid 0 on a Raid controller
1 pioneer DVD master on IDE 2

1 CDRW Lite On master on IDE 1

Thanks again..

Certainly you have used an 80-wire cable to connnect the drive?

it depends to your IDE Controller / Busmaster drivers;
try to install the latest SIS chipset drivers (which should include the busmaster drivers);
if this doesn't work, try the M$ standard drivers;

ok..

Installed the latest SIS drivers.. rebooted and saw that the SIS driver was there.. now a flip that says "Device Property" where I can see all the devices connected to to the controller.

I see the Lite On as a master on channel 1 and no slave there.

Pioneer as a master on 2 and no slave.

I click on the Liteon and the info comes up and it says that the device supports UDMA 2 but is running at PIO4. I have "use UDMA if possible" in the IDE channels properties in Device manager..

I need to fix this one.. can't burn and browse at the same time :(..

Regards,

hi.. yeah I'm using an 80Pin neon cable for looks.. (side window).. it's a single connector cable. UDMA worked great on my older Athlon system.. dunno why it shouldn't here..

Yeah. Windows XP..

all good advices and possible workarounds appreciated..

no damn WHQL drivers for that chipset.. tried another cable.. another neon cable :p.. hehe.. same shite.. GRRRR... putting a flat 40pin cable in there is like putting a home made spoiler made by your 13 year old nephew on your brand new Diablo..

Ok done the following.
Latest SIS IDE drivers.. NO go.
Tried two diffrent cables.. NO go..

the CDRW just won't allow itself to be used as a UDMA device.. stuck in PIO4 which makes my mouse lag if I burn and browse at the same time :(..

Guyz.. c'mon.. no one had this prob before??
