Liteon 401s Reading

I just installed a liteon 401s... The problem that I am having is the DVD burner will not read if there is a disc in the drive... This only happens with a video disc. I can install software, listen to music, etc. But when I go to copy a dvd, or play a dvd, it does not read if there is a disc in the drive. I have flashed the firmware and installed the Force ASPI17 driver and aspichk, still with no luck. I have Record Now that came with my machine and that upgraded from CD/RW t DVD/RW. I have checked out Clonedvd, Nero v.6, MYDVD, and SONIC DVD, also DVD XCOPY. What am I not seeing that will get my machine to recognize the reading part of my burner? I feel that I overlooked some part of the config process. Oh yeah I am running XP home w/ servicepk1 and am current on updates.

Hi Raven Crow, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

bevore you can play video DVDs, you have to set your matching Region Code (Device Manager > CD/DVD drives > your LiteOn > Properties);
another thing you need is a software DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD; they often comes bundled for free with the drive itself or with VGA cards;
