maybe you should go to an electronic store, and buy a cd lens cleaner...

sometimes the lens in your drive will get dirty

my friends had the problem when it wouldnt burn

we used a cd lens cleaner and it did the job! GOOD LUCK!

cd lens cleaner=cleans the lens inside your drive

Read this thread before doing any type of lens cleaning:

http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24436

Also, be sure to disconnect and reconnect your cables and power supply wires to make sure everything is hooked up ok. More than once I have had friends that "the burner quit working" and come to find out they were inside their case for whatever reason and got the ide cable loosened up from the motherboard. It was just enough to make the system freak...

Check your cables and read that thread, we'll go from there.

thanks guys
sent it back to where i got it from they found nothing wrong with it i think it is the cable cause i pluged my dvd cable in to it and it seems to be working

LTR-24102B Dead the 2nd...

Hallo there!
After connecting to my new ASUS A7N8X-X board, my liteon drive won't do a thing but spit each and every media i load it with. the drive is correctly registered in BIOS and within the system ,and shows no errors, but it won't hold a disc in for more than two seconds.
Lite-on don't seem to offer new firmware anymore-where can i find such? or is there no more hope?

thanks!

Remove the nforce busmaster drivers from your device manager and see what happens.....I've an Abit N7-S mobo, and can't burn properly with the nForce ide drivers installed.....although my bios and windows 2000 show all devices properly, there are only 2 of 4 drives recognised by my main burning apps.

This is probably the best burner that I ever had. That said, it began faltering, not recognising media and making bad burns some two months ago (and some 6000+ burns on its counter...). all things come to an end at some time- even the VERY good ones.

No argument there. Mine isn't installed right now as it is no longer the king for duping protected game cds but I'll probably put into a new system I'm planning to get soon just to use as a work-horse drive. Has been in extensive use for more than 2 years and I can hardly recall a bad burn.

Whilst, as you say, all good things must eventually come to an end, I'll be keeping mine until it dies. Even now, IMO no better burner for burning onto crap or suspect media has ever been released.
