liteon 163d firmware question

this must have been discussed before, but i couldn't find anything while searching, so here it goes.

i was browsing through another forum when i saw mention of people patching their 163d drive with 163 firmware, and apparently it improved performance. problem though, is that there was no elaboration, so i'm wondering, does anybody know anything about this. seems funny to play with firmware like this, especially if the differnce wont be much. from what i understand the 163d is basically the 163.

im not sure, but i know you can flash a 32x liteon to burn at 40x, so maybe its something to do with getting it to brun faster,maybe up to 24x?.

You should ONLY use firmware for your specific drive. Using wrong firmware can cause serious damage and maybe permanently damage your drive. Try the Liteon website or here.
