Lite-On 52x24x52x CD-RW Review

Thanks for the link Blane.

I can't _any_ other cdrw software to work with this driver other than the nero that shipped with it.
I had nero on my computer and it wouldn't work. I had cdrwin and it won't work, I have discjuggler, etc...
Only the nero that shipped with it works.

Any one have any ideas about this?

Cheers

I thought DiskJuggler used a generic MMC profile for any drive that didn't need explicit configuration - at least it did in 3.x, AND the file pfc.inf was more or less self documenting if you did need to tinker - and "opt out" from some features that your drive could not support.

I hate to use it but EZCD works with it and my Nero express works with it. Also Alcohol works too. I also have plextor manager installed and it will only recognize the lite-on 52x as a cd-rom and not a writer. I've been checking the lite-on site for a firmware update but, nothing yet.

Thanks guys.
I got most of the cdr software to work, except for cdrwin. No biggie.
In the future, where is a good place to see if a drive a supported by a certain sw? I can't seem to find this kind of technical info on manufacturer websites.

Because I'm thinking about getting this drive:
Sony 52x24x52 Internal CD-RW Drive — CRX-220A1. You guys like?

It's not certain, but that Sony may well be a Liteon in Sony clothing!

Ok, it's the E1, and it's actually a firmware hack to ghet there, as it was unreleased at the time.
Sony often seem to deliver an "E1" for drives listed as "A1" - and the dismantled picture is copelling evidence of a Liteon core.

The board, in fact, says 32123S - but is clearly not using the "3S" chipset!
