Lite-on 40125S media problems (Datasafe)

Checked a disc using Nero Scandisc (surface scan) and came up about 50:50 good/errors.
Updated my firmware to ZS0P in the hope it might help but again ths same sort of error levels.
Anything else worth trying before i give my 97 cd-rs to a friend?
The media is Datasafe 80 min (multi-speed), blue bottomed.
I had this problem before with some other silver bottomed Datasafe discs - and like an idiot i thought these might work!

Any media identifier tools giving any useful ID?

I recall comments that Liteon's and Mitsui media just do not work together, even though both are not bad separately.

Did you run the Nero scandisk on your CD-RW drive? If you have a CD-ROM drive, or access to one, run the tests on it. Do the errors still show up?

I had similar problems and found it happened with smart burn switched on, if i deactivated the smartburn feature the cd wrote ok with no errors, I have since taken the drive back to where i got it from and mentioned this and it was swapped, but unfortunately the only model they had in stock at the time was the 52246 and they gave me that, which works a dream. ;)).
