linksys hub??..

ok i have a linksys network hub thing....i plug the ethernet cable frum the cable modem to the hub.....then i plug one to my brothers computer....the internet works for him....but when i plug one in for me i dont get internet at all....it detects my network card and everything....but it keeps on saying that i have limited or no connection at all??..the model number for the linksys is EFAH05W....a 10/100 5 port workgroup hub....im on windows xp pro sp2....

To share a cable modem, you need a broadband ROUTER, not a hub.
Without a router, the cable modem will see two separate PCs, and it's rare to find a standard broadband service that will handle that (at most, you can register the MAC (hardware) address of each and switch between with a reset).

You could also use a Linuxrouter on a spare old PC, but a broadband router is a nice tidy, silent, low power box.
