LG 48x writer - any good on protected ?

I bought this at a fair for my mother-in-law as a prezzie for her son and daughter-in-laws comp this Christmas. I gathered a bit info before going to the fair about reliable protected game copiers and the usual suspects (Lite-on Plextor) came to the fore. But LG's were also mentioned as a quality drive and a protected games copier.
So has anyone used thsi and is it any good with protected ? Any tips and tricks ?

Yes, I did check that first. But what I was after was if anyone had actual experience of using the writer. Actually, the one I have bought for my mother-in-law isnt actually listed on E.B. yet !
