Let me introduce myself

Hello, all!

Greetings from NJ in the USA! Saw a recommendation to come here in another forum and joined yesterday.

Been using computers since the early 80's and always seem to be searching for cash to get the latest "toys"! (still have my Apple II Plus from way back when!!!) Worst mistake I made was to convince my wife to accept computers. Now she is "browsing" Ebay all day "saving us all that money". Had to network the house and give her a computer in the kitchen to support her habit. I guess there are worse things.

Interests? Computer "stuff", beer (my company manages all the can graphics for Anheuser-Busch), video editing, beer, Formula One racing (going to Indy F1 in June - now if they would just install WiFi so we can get data stream during the race...), fantasy baseball, and...did I mention beer?

This looks like a valuable, active site and I look forward to giving and receiving info and assistance.

hey hello and welcome to the forum ssart lol sounds like most of us here a slave to the machine but hey its fun maby put yer apple on ebay its prolly worth loads now for nostalgia purposes :)

oh and with that magical word in there BEER fits right in with just about everyone here lol :)

enjoy your stay :)

Hi ssart! You got my vote for one of the best introductions I ever read. I feel like we've already sat around and had a few beers together! Welcome. ;)

Duracell - Yes, excellent beer! My previous neighbors were from Switzerland and introduced me. We can get it locally. A local pub has a selection of almost 100 beers, 49 on tap. Can't remember the name, but best brew I have had was during a trip to Dusseldorf. I believe it was an "Alt". Does that make sense? I think the brewery name began with an "S". We would pound this stuff all night, get pretty well tanked, then wake up bright and early for a trade show with little or no hangover. Great time!

Viper_1069 - Can't bring myself to unload the Apple. Kinda like my '74 MGB. Rarely use it, but too many good memories to let go.

Banzibaby - Tee-total is a personal choice and has to be respected. Won't hold it against you!!!

Janiedriver - So where is Fayetteville? I used to have a customer in Newport. I would fly into Little Rock, then drive the 2 hrs through the rice fields to get there. Man, you get some wicked thunderstorms during the summer down that way!!!! Noticed that you have some posters about F1 on your "Corner". Much interest? I absolutely love it. They just need to get the "red cars" to drive into a ditch!!!!

The-poacher - Thanks for the welcome, man. Gotta tell you that unfortunately I am not much of a Becks fan. I think I drink more Guiness than anything else. Don't hold it against me!!!

Anyway, thanks for the welcome words from those who wrote and greetings to all the voyeurs who took a look, but did not write!!!

Becks is one amongst many that I enjoy <> but it is my favourite in the UK mainly because here nearly all the foreign brews (including Budweiser Michelob etc) are brewed in the UK & are just pale imitations but "Becks" is as it says on the bottle always brewed in Germany.
Roadworker (another member of staff) can tell U something about beer he's from Belgium & they do really brew some of the most excellent beers especially the ones brewed by the monastries.

A British beer U should try (bottled) if U can get it in the USA is "McEwans Champion Ale" its 7.3 % & its lovely.

As for Duracells choice I too enjoy "Pilsner Urquell"

As for Guiness I am not a big fan But I have drunk it in Ireland & believe me there its the brew of the leprachourns very good indeed.

Fayetteville is in North West Arkansas. No rice paddies here, but lots of mountains. It's in the Ozarks. And lots of creeks and rivers. We're right across the border from Oklahoma and Missouri.
Don't forget the tornadoes! I think the bad stuff is mostly in the spring.
The guys post the F1 stuff. I only know 3 things about any car!! ;)

for sure "Alt" makes sense because that brew typ is the Düsseldorf speciality;
but i cannot help you to name it, they have a bunch of locally breweries there and they all brews Alt only; :)
