I have just upgraded to the latest firmware, ES0G. I gotta say, the write quality coming out of this drive is nothing short of top-class.

However - does anyone have any idea or inside information concerning how much longer we need to wait for the (-) firmware upgrade (either be it official or unofficial!).

I seem to have hit a brick wall, and no-one is saying anything about it, despite the fact that everyone is fully aware that the Mediatek chipset is capable of dual format writing.

Its getting quite frustrating....=\

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Liteon just released an external usb dual format drive, which means they have (finally) got the dvd- down, so it shouldnt be toooo long.

Edit: Rumors will have it this is not 100% liteon, seems their still strugglin with the dvd- format

Hrm, so it could be a distinct possibility that we could be waiting even longer to find any information concerning the reflashing of the LDW-401S to a "D" burner. Hrmmmmm.....

So, the new external is not a Meditek chipset? :(?

Let me (please) stress the point that this is rumors(reg the SDW-200DX) and not validated facts and shouldnt be taken any other way :)
And yes! patience might come in handy on this topic(imho).
Might be worthwile following up on this thread reg the SDW-200DX.

Any more news to speak of on our firmware chasing? I have quite a few people on this side of the world (Australia) who own the drive now. Many are quite starved for information....

A few people have also noticed

a) No Mt. Rainer support!
b) Doesnt read DVD-R media all that well...

Amongst other things.

I know its a new drive, but, the last I heard of the (-) firmware rumour was about 3 months back. My faith is beginning to dwindle.....

The are still some probs with the 401@411 fw.

The drive can´t see it´s written dvd-r´s. :)

I think the guys from the firmwarepage will release it soon. ;)
