launch a winxp app under w2k

Hi.

A friend of mine lend me his version of Avid Express DV 3.5
Unfortunately it is the WinXP only version and I have W2K.
Is there any possibility to launch this app under W2K?

In theory it should work. Remember, I said in theory, because it is "the same" OS only with some upgrades. Most aplications I had for 2k run perfectly in XP, so I don't see why this one wouldn't do the inverse. Some times what they do is change the title and build to sayit is compatible with that OS, but only critical software have problems. The only aplication that gives the most problems is the antivirus because it goes after the kernel.

Give it a try, if somethng goes wrong restart press F8 and choose last good configuration (the one before you installed it).

Bad news for you Fordprefect

No it won´t, the version you have has been developed exclusively to run under windows xp professional and doesn´t run under any other os (maybe could run under xp home edition).

That's what I wanted to hear from you, This shows that this one is build from scratch for XP so it will not install on 2k. Altought most of the software out there will run on 2k, only problem is that some make use of the kernel wich is diferent.
