A bit more info needed here. Can you post what GSPOT says about the Video & Audio. Also, what software did you use to convert the divx to dvdr?

hi chicken man, sorry i took so long 2 reply. i used dvd santa to convert the divx file. g spot is sayin that i have several compatible codecs installed for the video and audio. i used gspot to render the file and it said there was no problems so i cant understand why i still have no sound when i burn it onto dvd. when i click on the properties for the video clip i downloaded where there should be an audio format there isnt one.
any help u can give me would be appreciated, thanks, shaunyb

Sorry, I dont use nor have I ever used DVD Santa as its not Christmas time yet :D

On a more serious note, I'd suggest you check your avi with DivFix and DivXRepair to see if there is problem there, neither are 100% in finding errors though, particularly audio.

But as asked, can you please post the numbers/etc that GSPOT says about the Video & Audio as I still have no idea what sort of avi you have there.

Does not give audio format, but works fine on WMP.
Thanks for your help........Shaunyb

Okay so your AVI is a Divx3 with AC3, what a wierd combo. Check DVD Santa specs, it probably cannot handle AC3 audio. I'd suggest you check out The FilmMachine, you will have better sucess with that for your conversion.

Thanks chickenman will try what you say,the film is salems lot David soul 1979 my dad loved it.Could i ask what program would you recemend i use for converting my files to dvd in the future....Again thanks very much :)

I personally stick to my old tried and tested DVD2SVCD w/CCE 2.50 for AVI to DVDR and generally manually author the files generated with Main menus, chapter menus, play all buttons, etc using DVD Maestro. But The FilmMachine is now a very reliable alternative. It doesnt use the D2SRoBa type OPV encoding with CCE so a bit slower than with DVD2SVCD but picture quality is basically the same.
