hi ,having created a 2 hour music dvd from rare old music clips,i want to copy it for a mate.
source was video -sony dvd recorder.
i use the marvellous dvd decrypter shrink and nero.
decrypter works, but shrink wont write it,and nero writes it ,but disc wont play.
my simple question ..how do i copy a dvd created in a recorder ,dvd-rw?
regards
cf

if its already on DVDR then just rip with decrypter and burn in nero as a dvd video just dump the AUDIO_TS and The VIDEO_TS contents into the same folders in the nero compilation :)

why would you need to shrink it if its already on a 4.7gb dvdr !? :)

or make a backup using DISKJUGGLER, ALCOHOL 120% or CLONE DVD :)

using dvd decrypter for writing would work too. just rip the original dvd in ISO read mode with dvd decrypter, and then burn the image it creates in ISO write mode.

okay decrypter read and wrote it,power dvd plays it,but it wont play on my dvd players!!!!.
all nero burnt discs play, does this mean i now have to make a copy using nero?
confused ,

hmm, are you using a writer that has the ability to change booktype, and if so, are you changing the booktype to dvd-rom in nero? that's the only reason i can think of that a copy burned with nero works in a standalone but a copy burned with dvd decrypter doesn't. a dvd that's imaged and burned with dvd decrypter should be 100% compliant.

what version of Nero are you using?
are you sure that the standalone plays that type of media you are using?

if you are sure that the version of Nero is OK and so is the media then try the following

copy the files to your hard drive using Windows Explorer
open an IFO in Ifoedit and click GET VTS (do any values change?)
now burn with Nero

another option depends on if it has a menu or a menu you want to keep?

if it doesn't, open it up in DVDShrink and then use reauthor mode and grab all the titles across numerically

this will completely rebuild the DVD instead but it will have a slight pause between each title

well i'm still confused.i read/wrote 1 disc today using decrypter, source was avi converted using mydvd to dvd,and it plays in both my players.
tried again to read/write the disc i created using my dvd recorder from video, again it did it but it wont play!.
both copys show up in decrypter as dvd-rom,yet 1 plays and the other doesn't.surely someone must have backed up a disc they recorded on a standalone.
thanks for the last idea i'll try that now.
