Knacked Tos

Looks like my Toshiba DVD drive is about to throw the towel in, this the drive that has done countless hours of reading and the drive that i use to read most protected CD,s. On the whole combined with the 121032 plexter and 24 speed Lite-on it has been a successful combination, untill now.
Recently ran into a disc called Tnt Travelmanager which is using dummy files, what a job this turned out to be, using the Tos then writing first with the plex then with the Litey failed big time. The next atempt was reading with the litey and writing with the litey, this worked to a degree but the copy would only work when the copy was run in the lite-on drive. The next atempt was better used the plex for read and write, this produced a fully working copy in all drives. There appears to be one restriction and that is if you try to copy the working copy the next copy will not work you have to put the original CD in and use that to make another working copy in which case it will then work again.
Ah the joy of burning!!!!!!!
After some thought i put these problems down to the read of the CD and not the write (unless anyones got any other ideas).
So as the Tos is about shot i need another DVD drive, in the opinon of the good people on this forum which do we thing is the best drive to go for in the respect of reading copy protected CDs.
