Just made a SVCD and i get a high-pitched whining sound :(

hey guys... im really new to this whole ripiing dvd's and stuff...

so i used these programs..
Smart Ripper 2.34
DVD2AVI 1.76
TMPGEnc 2.54
Divx 4.02

so its all done and now when i play it i get a HIGH-pitched whine durning the movie.. :(

oh.. lol
i didnt "use" divx... thats just the codec version i have installed...

okey... i figure i can live with that sound for now(its my first rip...so i'll leave it for now)
i split up the MPEG2 file with TMPGEnc into 3 cd's.. (40 min each)
so now im trying to burn it with Nero Express... and "ADD" the file and then it says the video file is not a MPEG2-SVCD file...and to go to their site to get buy the MPEG2-(S)VCD Plugin... (i DL'ed it off cdrsoft and installed it..)
but it STILL doesnt work :(

any suggestions on how to burn this? should i use a different version of Nero?

Settings

I'd double check your settings.
It sounds like tmpgenc gave you a non conform mpg.
That should not happen with the right settings.
Did u load the right template into tempgenc?
Which audio track did u choose in dvd2avI dolby/dts etc?
Chickenman will be here soon anyway so I defer to him.:D

As Daveml was alluding to, sounds like you may not have loaded a SVCD Template into TMPGEnc. If you did, it WILL produce a compliant SVCD, if you didnt, anything can happen. If you didnt then that could also explain the the sound problem.

Also, when you cut the file with TMPGEnc, you MUST select the Type to be MPEG-2 Super VideoCD (VBR) as leaving it on Auto does not work. This is a very common problem. I hope you havent deleted the original encoded MPG, so just re-cut and Nero will accept the file if that was the problem.

Also suggest you upgrade your SmartRipper to ver 2.41.

Cheers.

Hey thanks for the reply's guys :D

-I think i loaded the WRONG template.... i needed the NTSCFilm...and i did just NTSC..(i guess that could screwup my sound alittle?)
other than that.. i got it all burnt with Nero now..and it'll do for my first rip..

i'll have to go rent/borrow another DVD to rip this weekend..and see if i can do a better job! :)

thanx alot guys, and thats a really good guide chickenman..easy to follow and stuff :) GJ!

ciao
