Hi
i have very recently got myself a sony DVD+rw
Viper yesterday helped me out no end with using nero with it.
Now i want to convert all my vcd's to DVD compilations.
I used to convert my .AVI files to mpeg then used nero to burn a multiple CD vcd. After i did that i deleted previous mpeg's and avi's,now what i want to do is rip the .DAT files off the vcd and join them to put it onto 1xdvd without any gaps.
Can this be done? And with what tool?

Many thanks

Use VCDGear or Isobuster to rip the *.DAT files off to *.MPG form. Then just use DVDLab to author the individual mpg files and just link the end of one to the start of the next, no need to join. Read the Tutorial section of how to do it all.

Wth Nero Vision you can import VCD files (dat files) and then creating the dvd menu you can join them.

Yes it does, also in AC3 (if i remember right - with plug-in) and from NTSC to PAL too. Some manual settings are: bitrate, resolution, aspect ratio, audio format..

You have right, unless you add many VCD´s in a DVD, then Nero Vision re-encode and and fit them for you

DVDLab just authors them, no encoding is needed for VCD mpeg1 files as that is actually a DVD compliant size and form as well. Its just the audio thats wrong. If you have the TMPGEnc AC3 Audio Plugin installed, DVDLab can use that also to convert it to AC3. All done in minutes, not hours and final picture quality is IDENTICAL to the source files, unlike what Nero does to it.
