Joining AVI/MPG files together

I have one question I'd like to ask, I'm going to eventually burn some episodes from one of my favorite TV Shows to SVCDs, and I want to know how I would merge all the episodes together. Then I want to be able to add about 5-10 seconds of blank space from one episode to another, in order to transition to the next one fairly smoothly. Thanks in advance for any help.

1) What is some good software I might try? I'm currently using VirtualDub 1.5 for capturing and editing out the commercials from the video files.

2) I also have a lot of other video editing software on my system so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem for me to find a solution for this.

Any help given will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Convert them using CMs method to svcd individually.
Then (using nero as example)
Add them in one at a time to your project.
U can set the gap between the episodes and also u can use the next button on your remote (if u are watching on the telly) to navigate the episodes.

Thanks for help dave, but do you have any other suggestions for another program for burning them to a cd? The reason I ask is because I just can't stand using Nero. I much rather prefer using RecordNow MAX, which I should re-install, cause I had to format a couple weeks ago.

If the eps are 22min long ( a typical 1/2 hr TV show) then you can get 2 per CD no probs. Follow the Tutorial but in the Bitrate Tab for the top line for 0 - 50 min, set the CD size to be 400 rather than 800. Encode both eps that way.

Then author the MPG files in VCDEasy, in the Interactivity window, set the default wait 2 seconds to 5 seconds. You can even add in an intro picture as well if you like.
