jerky playback

hi. could someone tell me how to reduce jerky playback of a dvd please? i suspect it started as a svcd which was encoded as a pal dvd with above result. would the files in the VIDEO_TS folder need re-encoding? if so, how would this be done?

tnx in advance

Either your DVD Player does not like SVCD's authored to a DVD (this is VERY common) or it does not like the media its on. Try copying it to different media and see if that helps. If it doesnt then you may have to re-encode it. See the DVD tot DVDR Tutorial and re-encode it. That may not still fix it as the original source to the SVCD may have been NTSC rather than PAL and who ever did a poor conversion job with the SVCD playing jerky as well. If thats the case, just throw it out, nothing your going to do will fix that.

Hi
This little piece of info will only serve as a reference. I made a copy of my 'Force 10 from Navarone' movie, written to a media called Princo. Probably unavailable in your kneck of the woods. I also have two DVD players, named 'C-Tech' and 'Digitor'. These two products are also probably unknown to you. The copy plays jerky in the Digitor player, but runs perfectly in the C-Tech.

Trust this may help in some way

tnx for trying A&AJ. pretty sure that's not the problem.
tnx also to The-poacher. always use Ritek disks with that dye, so again, don't think it's that.
tnx to ChickenMan. will check the tut and try a recode if possible.

appreciate all your efforts to help
