but then i play it back on my DVD player then picture comes out jerky.
the quallity of the picture is perfect, but its jerky

can anyone tell me what might be the problem

MANY THANKS
JOE

did u change the default framerate of the divx to something else !? say 29fps NTSC to 25fps PAL !? or similar ?! i had this problem with a karaoke divx i messed with the framerate to change it to my tv system of PAL and it jittered and jumped !? so i re-did it without changing the framerate and chooseing to burn it as a PAL vcd in nero and it was fine on playback !?

if your dvd player is able to use CDRW disks then try using that for test burns it saves on wasting disks when experimenting :)

thanks for the reply mate
but where do you change the framerate setting ?
and on which program ?
i may have done this without knowing so can you tell me where to look for the framerate changes.
:)
many thanks
JOE;)

using "TMPGEnc" if you just load the divx into "TMPGEnc" do not change any settings in any of the options for frame rate or fps :)

OK
thanks for the replys
so i've been changing a NTSC to PAL and thats why is jerky YEAH ?
is that what your saying.

if so is there any way of doing this (NTSC to PAL) without making a jerky picture ?

if you could let me know of anything to do this

thanks again
and i must say this forum is very helpfull :)
cheers
JOE

As the Poacher said, just leave them as NTSC, they will playback just fine. I know of no way to make a NTSC to PAL not jerky. There are lots of scripts around that can reduce it slightly but at the end of the day, its still jerky.

Just leave them as they are.

Jerky films

What you are doing old chap is playing a film that has a framerate of 23.976 frames per second, Pal format is 25 fps. You will notice jerky movements especially on panned shots where camera movement occurs to address this you need to convert your avi to 25fps before using TMPGenc. Check out dvdhelp.com for the answers on framerate conversion, I could explain here but would run out of paper, its much better if you investigate yourself. The site mentioned will tell you what you need to carry out the job, best of luck, be warned it lengthens the conversion process and sometimes can be a little tricky especially if ac3 sound is involved.
