Is this a quality DVD-R/RW drive?

I know very little about DVD recorders and re-wriiters. Check out this DVD-R/RW and tell me what you know about it.

Cendyne 4x Internal DVD-R/RW Drive

I'm asking because it is about to go on sale and be subject to a mail-in rebate that will bring the price down to $189.98

To bring the price down even more, I will be able to purchase any another item for $10.02 and use one of Staples $50 off $200 coupons to make it $139.98

That's a great price for a 4X dvd-r writer.;) The Pioneer is a fine burner. Can't go wrong for that price.;)

Keep in mind that you don't forget to install Alcohol 120% for burning .cue and .bin.......with Nero or others, most .cuefiles with several points in it,will fail....:)

Great burner for a great price

I'm using the 105 (OEM for Pioneer A05) . I love it!!
Make sure you get the right media though. There are some Riteks G03 (2X) to buy for $1 a piece. I would burn 1X anyway... to make sure they come out fail-safe.
I bought my 105 for $270 so you got a very good price.
Go for it.

On second thought... maybe wait for the LiteOn...

Or... wait for the LiteOn that's due soon. judging by the praises that people here are giving them - and judging by the quality of the DVD-Rom LiteOn that I use - it would be worth the wait.
On the other hand... that would be the first DVD burner by LiteOn and maybe they'll screw up a bit before getting it right....

Am I any help here...?

Regards

I wouldn't buy this... its a bad burner (although the price is surely tempting). Wait till some version of the Sony, OEM or not is available.

Its not a bad burner.
Many of my friends and I have a pioneer with no problems.
Unless u have to do dvd+r it is as good a burner as the sony.
Only the incorrect use of firmware or media (or just basic incompetance) will give u bad results.
And u could say that about any drive.

I dont believe Roady or scarecrow own a pioneer so ........... ;)

The choice is yours. :D

True dave......I don't own the drive,it's just that I had to help several people to get their problems sorted with that drive and cuesheets with multiple entry points....:D
The Pioneer has probably very good other options to offer,it's just that I wanted to point out that specific problem, because it confused a lot of peeps that ran into it.....
That said,I believe that the dvd burning/reading part of the Pioneer/Cendyne works quite well, but that the cd burning/reading part of the drive needs improvement.....especially the lack of DAO RAW writing mode ;)

well its a dvd drive. I wouldnt recommend anybody use it instead of their cd burner! lol.
I certainly wouldnt.
:D

A promise card?
Thats what i had to do.

LOL......:D
No dave, believe it or not, there are still pc cases with only 2 bays, people who don't want to unmount an existing cdrom/dvdrom drive or spend the extra money for an external drive......
Short on space,is also the reason why combo drives are still popular.........getting a cdr-w/dvdr-w is tempting,to get all tasks done by 1 drive then....

LOL, everyone should buy a 65 cm tall server case like mine with 6 5.25 bays, no problemo then! :D

@laz Yep I got a 2ft tower for my main rig 6 bays but only use 4 :D

@any one else >> My DVD burner (in another puter)is a 105 & its Ace >> I aint no expert but I know what I got & it works fine @ burning DVDR which is why I bought it >> If I want to do other things like sail the atlantic I'll Get a boat

In a nutshell It does what it says on the tin >> it burns DVD's:p :D
