Is it Possible to make a Perfect 1:1 copy of a DVD Movie (Including all Features) ?

Hi, this is my first time here. I did a bit of reading before I posted this to see if I could find my answer without having to make a new topic, but no luck.

I'm new to making back ups of DVD movies, and I have only made one DVD backup of a movie I own, and it came out perfect. Exccept for all the features, which I thought would copy but it didn't.

I used DVD Xpress 2.01 and was told, it was very easy to use (which it is) and it copied the whole movie, including the features. But now I learn it doesn't.

I was just reading there is a new version out to DVD Xpress, V 3.01 ?

Has anyone tried this, and does this version copy the whole movie fatures and all ?

Any advice welcomed.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :)

No this software only backs up the main movie. If you want to backup everything then you really do have a number of choices open to you as to which software to use.

There is Pinnacle Instant Copy 7, DVD Shrink, DVD2one, CloneDVD, DVD95Copy, DCS and prolly quite a few more.

If I was you I would give some of them a try. DVD Shrink is FREE and does an excellent job and is also very easy to use. www.dvdshrink.org

Checkout the various forums for users opinions on the above. :)

So if there are lots of programs that do copy all the features Laz, which one works the best and is the most user friendly.

I'd prefer something easy because I'm not to PC minded :), and something that does the job good.

BTW, I have tried Clone DVD 1.1.7.1, and I keep getting a error with it.

"Copy protected DVD" Clone DVD does not back up copy protected DVD's And says something about CSS Encoded ?

Know anything about this ?

Mind you this is on a movie I own (SHREK). But I wanted to test it on this movie because it has lots of cool features in it :)

Since v3.0.0 xPress has allowed you to keep all extra's, etc.

xPress has built in decrypting, CloneDVD does not.
thanks, I copied that Burning Faq and got all the tools off it, but it does seem like a lot of steps to do what I want to do.

Are all these steps necessary, or is there a easier way ?

Celtic_druid , are you saying DVD Xpress 3 does all this ?And which one is it this one DVDXCopy_XPRESS_v3.0.1_full_install.exe or is it this one DVDXCopy_GOLD_v3.0.1_full_install.exe ?

What's the difference in the 2 ?

BTW, I just want the one that burns all including the features, if possible, thanks.

Well I used AnyDVD and then CloneDVD and I ended up making an EXACT copy of the Movie Shrek, features and all.

But I don't think this is possible for a dual layered DVD is it ?

I don't have any Dual layered DVD's, so I can't try it :(

DVDXCopy XPRESS will copy everything (but add a warning that this is an archival backup, ie, not stolen). The difference (look at their web site, it explains everything: rtfm) is that the original product, DVDXCopy, only copied 1:1, so most dual-layer movies fit on 2 DVDs. XPress recodes to fit on one. DVDXCopy GOLD includes both the original and XPress in one package.

I love the dvdclone and anydvd combo VERY VERY VERY easy and straight forward

but I always have dvdshrink around if I want to do some more tinkering.

Yeah, I really happy with the ANY DVD and CLONE DVD Combo. They work perfect together and I love it how you can copy the features and all :)

I still haven't tested a Duel LAYERED one yet, but I assume, it won't work with this combo because it is twice the size.

Can anyone confirm this ?

The whole point of using Clone DVD is because the original is too large. If it weren't then you could have saved some money and just used DVD Decrypter.

Well, I can't notice any quality loss when make a back up.

But when I do make a back up, I remove all the other languages besides English, so maybe that takes away enough space to make a perfect backup ?

And I used to use DVD Decrypter before I had a DVD burner to rip a DVD so I could burn a movie to CD. But now I can't see any reason to use this when Clone , ANY DVD work great together :D
