which one do you recommend and why ?
which one of the two video cards are better than the other ?
what does it mean IWILL ? is this one better than soyo ?

thanks ( "; )

you should be able to get better specks on both PCs for that price. Where are you shopping from?
(would recommend you get the Athlon XP 2600 if available in your area *'cause I know in some parts of mexico you can get them now) and be careful with the Audigy sound card (as is buggy), would suggest more the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or Hercules Sound cards.

on the other hand if you can get the PC with Rambus it is very good memory, though Intel will not be supporting them anymore in the future (so you might want to think about that).
I would also go for the Nvidia Video card (as the LE versions of radeon aren't better) but depends what you want it for.

PS
if you can wait another 2 weeks, there will be another price drop in Mexico (about $40+ on the CPUs at least)

Topic like dis has been covered B4.
So all I would say is go for amd set up.
If you got money to waste spend it on intel de choose is yours.
Mi I go for amd set up, and wot will you B usin your new pc for?:D

shadow_phantom i would buy it from ibuypower.com , which link do you recommend ? ( cheap and quality )
Yeah im from mexico but i live in the border ( 100 miles from SD )
but i have seen cheaper prices in internet that why i would like to buy it in the net

hey rastabt i don understand you :S haha sorry about that .. what is B4 ? ?

I found this link in a magazine (Maximum PC) and checked it out. It looks good, and comes with a monitor. And it is still cheaper than what you had put together. Play with the configurator and see what you come up with. If nothing else, it's a timekilling link. ;)

AMD is the only way I will go if given a choice.

The ASUS A7V333 is an excellent Mobo choice. BTW, the onboard sound is a C-Media CMI8738 and is fairly well reviewed. It is the same as the Hercules Muse 5.1 DVD, so don't go buy that one ;)

As mentioned by Shadoe, the Audigy is a headache...trust me I know! I sold it to a friend with an older PC and am just using the onboard CMedia sound now. What is worst about it, is the onboard firewire port. It's not very good with firewire hard drives. Also messes up your onboard firewire port. So that they cannot coexist on the same mobo. Since the Audigy can't be disabled easilly, your onboard has to go. All in all, the Audigy is just not worth it.

The Santa Cruz is a much better choice, but you'll need higher end speakers to hear the differences.

Also something to think about. AMD will soon (next 2 months) be releasing the Athlon XP 2800+ which will run at 333mhz fsb instead of 266mhz. Finally 166 with no overclocking. With PC2700 RAM you will run at true 166/166 bus speeds...no more asynchronous bus. Very fast and very cool!

Good luck on your choice!

you shouldn't say that poko, as I think stability wise they are much closer (90% maybe but still yes, a little more ways to go), however there was a time when Intel was trying to catch up with IBM, so would you have said the same thing back then?
That Intel would never catch up with IBM?

Besides, for window users, the system crashes more often than any hardware failure (so nobody will really notice that lol).
More issues having to deal with compatibility than stability now I think.

Intel is stable, AMD is lacking a solid platform

I've been dealing with AMD and Intel for some time now.
Both systems have good/bad points. AMD is less expensive but does not offer a stable solid chipset/platform. They never make their own chipset unlilke Intel. Intel is way better but costs more.
VIA chipset always has issues with 128 MB Radeons as well as Creative Audigy, also with Plextor CDRW's. I'm not encouraging you to stay away from AMD but consider any consequences coupling with items that I mentioned. At some point a agree that VIA is a crap but nothing is 100%. I tried to be direct and short.
Thanks

3 AMD'S in my house hold 1.4 1.8 and XP2000 and they never had a fight lololo
I like the AMD,and there all running on the asus 722, 733
motherboards

Well, after joining this site a short while ago and getting in to this DVD thing, I figured my old systems weren't up to scratch. I have Intel chipset boards and VIA chipset boards with P4's and Athlon XP1600+ and XP2000+. I haven't had that much trouble with any of them apart from aggro upgrading firmware on CDRW's on the VIA so I had to take the writer out and put it in the Intel machine.

Overall I would definately say the Intel boards are better than VIA boards (the I815 and I840 onwards)- less aggrovation with them. What I would say is though, regardless of any chipset you do chose, make sure you are buying a top quality motherboard - don't go for a cheap one because after all it doesn't add that much cost to the total price of the system.

After saying all that I have just built a new system with two Athlon MP2000+ processors on an ASUS A7M266-D motherboard with a Gig of Crucial Reg ECC. I knew the chipset bug with the USB before I bought it but that is not an issue for me (the PCI USB 2 card that comes with it is very good if you need it). As yet I can't find a fault with it (famous last words). Transcoding with this baby is a breeze.

hmm... Cooler ?! I don´t think that AMD Cpu s r cooler than Intel !

btw. cheaper..... e.g. (Austria) Intel P4 2.4GHZ = app. 250€
AMD Athlon 2600+ = app. 380€

.....

I own a XP 1700... no probs with it ...and until now I was satisfied with it ...

The old Intel fanboy AMD stability thing is getting real old.
Ive had no stabilty problems since using the KT266 and now im using a Asus A7V333 and its rock solid.
But I understand these sorts of comments come from people who dont know any better.

I dont think AMD price them in Speed rather preformance so theres no point comparing cpu's of the same htz caz we all know AMD out preforms intel hands down

oh come on people you all saying intel is not up to it huh what a joke dont need crappy 4in1 drivers for intel and dont have to worry about the thing frying its self and amds warrantee is no wear near as good as intel but then again you dont need warrantee for intel very often niether. ive been building systems for a major computer company for over 15 years and only ever seen 3 or 4 faulty intel cpus but i cant say that about amd cpus and for all those who want sability intel is better but amd is ok with the use of good quality ram but i still just dont like via chipsets and for your video card nvidia because you will get support for a long time to come and price is irrellevant as theres nothing in it, all in all for average use not much in it except personal preference hope this helps a little . PS donot buy a creative sound card unless you have good knoledge of system resources or just like burning $100 notes lol .

Hey Strype, very nice find, wish I'd have seen this 3 weeks ago, could have save myself around $300. :p

If it's only 3 weeks old, maybe you can put an ad in the newspaper. ;) It would give you extra money for more RAM. :D
