Instant Copy Trouble

Hello everybody,
I have downloaded trial version of INSTANT COPY directly from PINNACLE site.

Since then, NERO burning engine fails in burning my DVD folders.
There is always a message ILLEGAL DISC at the end of burning process.

Disc is still usable in my DVD ROM but not in my DVD player.

Uninstalling of the INSTANT COPY DOES NOT SOLVE A PROBLEM!!!

Thanks God I have a backup copy of my harddisc.

ANYONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OR AM I JUST ONE OF THOSE WITH BAD LUCK???

i don't think it's a problem of Nero or IC;
check this out: http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=32137
and you didn't mentioned your used media brand; Ritek media seems to be the only trustable in these times;

Greetings from
Duracell
Please... i am not a newbie even if I am at this forum for the first time.

There is no problem with the media type I am using...
NERO FAILS SIMULATION AS WELL...
INSTANT COPY SOMETIMES CRASHES WITH `HARDWARE ERROR` REPORT because of `buffer underrun`. Wasted approx. 10 DVD-R`s trying to make it work.

I thought that my problem was in the version i downloaded from KAZAA (8.0.251...), but it is NOT...

Finally, explain this...
After restoring my previous settings from backup file, burning Instant copy`s images was successful using DVD decrypter.

I am really impressed with the quality of INSTANT COPY an that is the main reason why I want to make it work on my computer too.
Let`s discuss more...

Woooooooohooooooo

You were lucky. Uninstalling worked for you...........
I had to perform complete backup of my system.
Feel sorry for those who think that making backup copies of your harddrive is a waste of time and HDD`s space.

DURACELL, shall we add something new to the INSTANT COPY SETTINGS EDITOR or what?

Guys..if you are referring to the full version of Instant copy 8,I am using it with Nero.No problems.

I did not install the virtual drive,or the packet writing module> Instant write.I would avoid any packet writing software,InCd included. ;)

O.K. you not a newbie, but you dindn't mentioned yet, if you killed or replaced the Adaptec ASPI layer yet, and if you disabled IMAPI yet; that's why i linked to Woody's tutorial;

might be a problem of conflicting ASPI/ASAPI layers, burning engines or packet writer drivers;
if you really want to try IC again:
- uninstall all burning apps/engines and packet writers;
- (if NT/W2k/XP) kill all ASPI, uninstall ASAPI layers
- (if XP) disable IMAPI
- install IC and try it again

HI WOODY,
If TRY AN BUY version is not the full version, then NO, I didn`t install the full version.
Some of us that are not so familliar with IC settings as you are might think that IC8 is COMPLETE DVD BACKUP PROGRAM!!!!!

So, you have decided NOT TO INSTALL some of the most usefull parts of this program. WHY?
Someone might ask you which program do you use to burn IS8 images (please... why do we need DVD decrypter to do such a trivial job).
So instead of telling us what we should not install, tell us how to INSTALL THE FULL VERSION and to make it work the job it was designed for.

Or this is just one of the programs named AS IS...

I am really looking forward to discuss about this with You.

OK. So, the solution to all of my problems is to UNINSTALL every piece of software I am familiar with.
Kill ASPI, uninstall ASAPI, disable IMAPI, then uninstall TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR, NERO, VCD EASY, DVD DECRYPTER, CLONE CD...

There must be some other way...

THANKS, BUT NO THANKS...

There is some confusion about Instant Copy 8,and Instant Cd/Dvd.Hence my question of what you have.

I use a custom install to AVOID problems (as per my reply).I have had conflicts with The Instant Write module,and virtual drives in the past.I am trying to help you avoid the same.Furthermore I don't need,or want the virtual drives.I don't like packet writing either,their drivers are known to cause problems.

There is also an option to use ASPI instead of ASAPI which is the native Layer with IC8.That might help you.A new update of IC8 has been released that might help(not sure).

IC8 requires Dvd decryptor to remove file protection so that Pinnacle cannot be sued.There is no way around that.

I use IC8 to burn the images it creates.

Woody is my friend...

At first, I have Instant Copy v 8.00.251

I think I might have solved this problem.
Uninstalled the entire program, reboot.

Started setup, EXCLUDED INSTANT DRIVE.
I didn`t have any other options (custom) so I had to agree to everything else.

Tried simulation on NERO... passed
Tried burning on DVD decrypter... passed
Tried burning with IC8... passed but FAILED. Not at any point during burning, but burnt DVD doesn`t play in both my AIWA and DVDGEM. players. Playable in DVD ROM
Backing up of my DVD`s... no problem at all...
I`ll keep on testing it... (why, is this BETA release?)
Keep in touch...

but i won't discuss here anymore;
my recommendations aren't a compulsion for you;
personally i never had this problem so i don't have a tested solution for your special case; :rolleyes:
i have suggestions nothing less/nothing more;
==> "take it or leave it"

if you shall find an explanation/solution, please report here; so you can help other members; and you would be my new hero too;

Finally...

Decided to gamble with a few more discs...
Kept burning IC8 images wih both DVD decrypter and IC8 burning engine.
Generally I had no problem. But...

Every once in a while (roughly, one out of ten times) my computer crashes and reboots, or I end up with unusable disc. Those discs are playable in MOST OF THE CHEAP CHINESE DVD PLAYERS. Funny, isn`t it...

I have learned how to live without INSTANT DRIVE...
Can`t see what I came out untill I burn it... Might be a slight waste of time but...

So, if you accept the odds 1/10, and if you can live without INSTANT DRIVE, then KEEP ON TRYING...

I`ll keep you informed
