InCD4010

I just upgraded to InCD4010
First, I tried to write 2 files to a cd/rw that was formated with InCD35240 one was ok the other failed with bad media error. I tried to format but got bad media error. I put in a new cd/rw and tried to format and got the same error.
Tried on 2 different drives (Plextor 12/10/32A and Sony DRU 500A) with the same problem. Reinstalled InCD35240 and I have no problems - all works normal.

Now I wonder if I should try Nero551035??

I dont know about Nero (I very rarely use it) but to me inCd is the proverbial bag of spanners I NEVER NEVER EVER do packet writing
If I want data stored it goes on a CDR or a DVDR to be kept forever & not go belly up on me

packet seems pointless to me too POACHER yer not alone bud !? :) thats what MULTISESSION is for :D

I don't see any point in writing say a 10 meg .exe to disk when i can write a couple of hundred meg of exe's in one go :)

Not only that i read somewhere you loose a certain percentage of the disk because of the disk structure that packet writing needs !? im sure someone who uses it can fill in the gaps here :)

Also in everyday practice you would need the disk in the drive all the time !? which again seems pretty pointless !?

I dunno !? maby im missing something here !? maby someone here who uses PACKET writing can add to this and explain the benefits ?! if any !?

Packet writing on CDR is relatively safe... in fact some very reliable backup programs use UDF 1.5 to burn data to CDR(W).
But packet writing to RW is the safest way to big trouble, even with the best of packet writers- and inCD is NOT one of them (in fact, it cannot even write to CDR).

I've never had any probs with InCD:)

Even using older version on discs that were formatted with a newer version, i have yet been unable 2 trash a disc

I would like 2 say though that i only use it 4 short term storage, then it gets copied 2 HD then burnt 2 CDR

In fact the only weird thing i can rem is once when i put an InCD disc in the drive, a dialog popped up askin me if i wanted 2 install Roxio UDF reader

The disc had never ever seen Easy CD Kremator???

& yep it does annoy me that DirectCD can write 2 CDR, but not InCD.Why???They both do the same thing

Look at that...

I don't care about inCD, but read this about v.4 (from Ahead site):

Before you update, please read following information:

InCD 4 represents a brand new version of the well-loved packet writing solution. InCD 4 is not based on its direct predecessor but on a new, trend-setting technology. One of the new components of InCD 4 is the SmartDetect tool, which automatically recognizes your CD and/or DVD recorder and its properties, even if your burner is newer than your InCD 4 version.

Currently, SmartDetect is still undergoing testing, which means it has not been possible to try it out on all commercially available recorders (this mainly refers to all older models). If you are completely satisfied with InCD 3, we advise you not to update to Version 4, as we cannot guarantee it will run smoothly on all recorders.

However, do try out InCD 4 if you have a new recorder - you will be very pleased with it!

A finalized version will be available for you to download in the next few weeks.

That's how any legit paid user is mutated to Guinea pig... big thumbs up to Ahead! :p

yep from what i have heard this version is still classed as a beta

There has been a lot of reported probs with it, from it mucking up autoplay, not detecting CDRW discs & others

U would be better waiting 4 the final offical version

Another short report on InCD4010...On my second (old) PC (PIII 1GHz + Plextor 4012 + WinME) at the upgrade with new InCD4010...BSOD...(damn...) reinstallation of OS and InCD35240 and I have no problems, all works normal. On my first (new) PC (PIV 2GHz + Samsung SW 248F + WinXP Pro SP1) InCD4010 works "without" problems, but not read the CDRW formatted with InCD35240...one CDRW with 450 Mb of files is "NO" empty...silly program...No others words...Cheers...Badass.

Maybe that why it still is a beta

If i rem right U can't use discs formatted with an older version ie 1x, 2x so i think it will be the same 4 version 4
