Im a bit confused.

Ok I have heard that if you hit the "go live" button in games while you have a mod chip on or have evo x installed you can get banned or your Xbox can screw up. Does that mean that If I decide to put a mod chip and install evo x on my xbox, I will never be able to play online. If I still can, what am I supposed to do in order to play online and not mess up my Xbox or get it banned? Am I supposed to install xbox live before I put on a mod chip?

with the correct modchip (one that you can boot to the original bios & the chip goes to sleep) you can play your originals and play on xbox live

most modern chips have this feature
