If you like "Commander" File managers

http://www.rmonet.com/commander/ Many shareware, freeware, current and dead.
The linked "Orthodox File Manager" site is also a good read
http://www.softpanorama.org/OFM/index.shtml

Searching up a few archives for the dead ones where I can find, but it's getting late ... you know me, I'd rather have a free 1.x than pay out for version 2 (in the terms of "pricelessware" - a "last freeversion", so long as progress doesn't render it unusable - and to a degree, the "orthodox file manager" is anti-progress anyway).

Jeez, I really like the stability and the minimalism of Total Commander, but I feel like I'd have to take a week-long course to retrain myself to understand and exploit its full functionality. Could somebody produce a tutorial for this app (yeah, I know you advanced users are sneering now).

Until then, I'll be basking in the luke-warm shallows of the compromising GUI-driven Servant Salamander (the most recent beta of which has become much more stable).

Total Commander is the next best thing since water... :D Most certainly the greatest Windows application ever made. It's actually quite easy to learn it: just USE it all the time, after just 2-3 days you would have dismissed the thought of opening an odd Windows Explrorer window.
