IE downloader supplanted by Download manager

I tried a couple of download managers and found them pitiful when downloading from some places. IE's own is good but no resume which was the reason i tried them. However despite uninstalloing them now the IE downloader has not come back and I had to put one of these damn things back on in order to download anything. Does anyone know how I can get it back ?

IE should resume without any problems as long as the cache you set aside for IE is sufficicently larger enough to store the file u are downloading.

Whats the IE downloader ? So what happenes when u try downloading after having uninstalled the download managers ?

What download managers were you using ?

Nothing is the answer. It DOESN'T download. I have to go onto Opera to download (I have now put another download manager on and that works - but no original IE downloader) opera was also affected but I saved everything, deleted Opera then re-installed it to get the Opera downloader back. A lesson it is though. Dont "try out" download managers ! (ruefull) :(

The download manager shouldn´t affect IE download feature. However if for some reason it has then try to re-install the manager. Then uncheck all browser integrations in the download manager settings. Finally uninstall again. A good uninstaller should remove all settings used by the program but a lot of apps include uninstallers not wort the name.

If you run XP or ME you can use the system reset feature..ig enabled on your system. Go back to a point when all was OK. This way I have solved a lot of problems caused by bad installs.

If it still doesn´t work the reason might be missing or damaged files. The only way to solve this is by re-install IE. There is detailed info about this in IE help.

Finally there are some good and well working download managers available. I have tried many of them my self and never had the problem you have. Try to do a search for download manager etc. in forum search and you will find some nice topics about these tools.
My choice is Mass Downloader 2.4 because I like the GUI and it has the features I need. In all there are 4-5 apps wort using. Among these it´s all about taste.

Phil K, just go to Add/Remove programs, sign "MS IE 6 & Internet Tools" & click Remove. Then, in popup window choose REPAIR & that's all!

Cheers.
