hi everyone, i am new to the forums but not new to the scene. I just fond out recenlty about the hidden setting. so i decided to give it a try. so i set the defalut dvd size to 4.45. the original is 5.1 gigs. so i down sample, the traliors on the disc to 50% snd up the movie to bout 90%, so at first i let it go just a little in the red and let it do its thing. but the final pdi was only 3 gigs  , so i thought ok lets try it again and just let it be in the green, but this time same thing. so i decided to try 4.67 real high, but thte final pdi was only 3.9, getting closer but still not there. also i am selecting all the pdi to get the size amount of the dvd. any help would be greatly appreciated. oh i am using the recommend setting for hiddden setting except for the auto resize. and using IC8. i ahve over 26 gigs of space on my hd. thanks for your time

Hi animeguy!

Welcome to the forum!

This is a long and sad story which you are experiencing now...
InstantCopy sadly is well know for its undersizing issues, and there is no general or always working work around for this. The sizing issues vary from far undersized to far oversized, especially if your quality percentage is between 95-99.9.

Only sofar know solution is try and error :(

you could also try to remove, if any, unwanted material completly before processing in InstantCopy, which gives you more space for the wanted material resulting in a higher quality.

Hope this helps a little

Greetnx

Just out of curiosity. Considering I do many conversions overnight, what about setting DVDAnalyzeMaxRel to 100%? It would then do (effectively) a 2-pass conversion setting the bitrate almost perfectly?

BTW: Is there any "longer" descriptions of some of the settings? I'm trying to optimize quality always but I'm not always clear on just how the settings are interracting.
