IC and Matrix Reloaded

I am trying to backup Matrix Reloaded. I did not want to lose any video quality so I decided to split the movie out onto two discs. However, I am having a problem with disc 2.

I ripped the movie files only with DVDecrypter 3.7. After it was ripped, I used DVDFab to split the movie onto two discs. The first disc turned out perfectly. However, when I try to do disc 2, I get a substantial level of compression. IC is compressing the file from 1.83Gb down to just over 900Mb.

I have even tried doing a direct copy. When it is reading the files, IC lists that it is analyzing 1.83Gb. However, when it copies the file, it compresses the file to half of it's original size.

What have I done wrong? Thank you in advance for your help.

Don't know what's wrong but as per spider's comment I too have done this with IC8 and the quality really was superb.

Worth a try I'd say.

Thank you to both of your replies. However, I too tried it on one disc and the movie, in certain places, had numerous block type artifacts. That was the reason for me trying to place it on two dvds.

I tried it to do it again last night. This time I ripped the whole dvd instead of just the movie. Unfortunately, it seemed to happen again. However, after closer examination, the movie quality is only poor in the first two chapters on disc 2. After that, the image quality reverts back to excellent.

I have no idea what could be causing this. It's really starting to annoy me. I am one of these that can't let go of something until I figure out the problem...lol.

In your opinion, is IC8 that much better than IC7?

Well IMHO IC8 is slightly better but not vastly so over v7 and not really worth a change unless you get it on a good deal.

The removal side of it is better, though I now would tend to use DVDStripper for that anyway, and the encode time has speeded up somewhat but apart from that little change that I can notice in real terms.
