IC 7 & 8 can't...

I have 2 movies that IC 7 & 8 can't transcode sucessfully : Finding Nemo & The Hulk.

I used AnyDVD 2.1.0.9 to copy the entiere DVD in the hard disk.

After transcoded the movie with IC 7 (and IC 8) & burning, the DVD is unreadable.

Then I tried with CloneDVD & DVD2one, the DVD works well but the quality is not good.

Can you help me ?
Is it a new form of protection ?

Thank you very much.

Hi Kytine!

i doubt its a new form of protection, could you provide some more info on what you did exacly ? Did you remove any stuff with IC ? It's known to cause problems on certain StandAlone Players! Which brings us to your Player, what model is it ? Is it known to be fussy ?

Hello TheMadGuy.

Thank you for your reply.

Let me try to explain you with my poor English.

I used to backup movies like Matrix, Matrix 2, Terminator 3, etc... with InstantCopy 7.0.3.140 and/or InstantCopy 8.0.0.0251 without any problems.

The trouble started when I wanted to backup Finding Nemo & The Hulk. I used the same method as for the others :

1) I copy the entiere DVD to the harddisk with AnyDVD 2.1.0.9,
2) Then I use DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 to reduce the video quality & remove the sound from unwanted scenes,
3) Finally I use InstantCopy to transcode the movie.

The versions 7.0.3.140 & 8.0.0.0251 do the work successfully but the DVD can't be read with my standalone Sony DVP-NS305 not with PC players PowerDVD 5.0.0.805 & WinDVD Platinum 5.1 DXVA B05.026 !
But only the last version 8.0.0.265 can pass the problem !

I remark that there is a black screen around 10 seconds after I insert the DVD (original & backup) & then the DVD starts normally.
Is the black screen the cause ?

Hi Kytine!

sorry, but i do not own either of the two discs, so i cant really provide any direct help here. but if you discovered that this is an issue with older versions of IC, this might very well be a bug in IC itself.

So if anyone owns either Finding Nemo or The Hulk (what rc are we talking about ?) it would be great if (s)he could jump in here trying to narrow the problem down.

Only info i can provide from what i read on the net sofar is that both discs feature a quite complex structure, which might confuse IC somehow ?

Sorry i cant do more.

Greetnx

Hi TheMadGuy.

Thank you for your interest.

I forgot to mention you that these two DVD are zone 3 located. Perhaps the structure is different in the other zones.

Anyways, the last version of InstantCopy can transcode them without any problems.

Have a nice day.

Done both these movies Region 1 Nimo and Region 2 Hulk, DVDdecrypter and DVD2One V: 1.30 absolutely no problems, quality is excellent.

I couldn't back up Finding Nemo (region 1) either with IC 8.05+AnyDVD.
The backup works ok with my DVD player (Daewoo DVD 5700),
but can't play main movie-all other extra stuff are playable.
Only I can't play main movie-disc error. PowerDVD can play all though.

I found this bit of info on AnyDVD`s website under FAQ. Hope it helps.

Will my software work With AnyDVD?
There are few incompatibilities known with software from Pinnacle and InterVideo. Generally AnyDVD works with all software. It does not 'hack' the application like other tools. It works on driver level. So other software does not have to do anything with the decyption. We have good results with Elby's CloneDVD.

Hi all!

the low level DeCss Drivers (e.g. AnyDVD) are still under constant development, and are actually pretty 'young' so it is common that there are problems in the early stages.
Make sure you always use the most recent version and to check if it might be a problem which originates from such an OnTheFly Decrypter, go back to the roots if you run into problems, and 1st rip to HardDisk with e.g. SmartRipper or DVDDecrypter and use the ripped files from there.

This way you can make sure its actually the DVDContent that gives you trouble and not something that got messed up during the on the fly ripping process....

Hope this helps a little
