I think I'll give up on CD-RW media!

The first is a scan over a media that had been part used before - at 10x with a hell of a lot of burnproof on a CD to CD that I aborted.
Written at 10x - and despite the lousy scan results - verified ok!


Second try - rewrote same media at 8x - looks better, but verify FAILED

They do tend to deteriorate over prolonged use

i tend not to use mine unless its for test purposes anything else is burnt to CDR as they are a lot cheaper (almost disposable!!)

All these programs like Packet CD, In CD and Direct CD are the worst programs to put on a computer. IMHO

But if you want trouble......go ahead.

I don't use any of them now and never will again.

CDRs are so cheap so I've not bothered with CDRWs for years.

I really dont understand the need for packet writing !? maby its just me !?, why use a disk like a floppy and burn just a meg or so do disk when you can grab 700mb together and fill an entire disk in one go

Not only that YOU HAVE TO keep a cdrw in the drive to be of any REAL use pretty pointless !?

But people out there swear by it !?

I'm one of the few out there that has not even tried it i read too much about it ... did the maths and thought .... not for me

3 uses only!
#1 (not shown) - was a foolhardy attempt to copy from files on a CD (on the same IDE) - it burnproofed ALL the time, and I aborted it - can you guess when?
#2 - after a quick format, 10x write - and though it looks AWFUL, it passed verify
#3 - Went over it again at 8x (4x,8x,10x offered) - from the scan, it looks better, but it failed verify
A scan with Nero CDspeed also showed continual error counts, and every sector in the yellow.

And it IS a HS-capable drive - though I begin to wonder, since it apparently has the same guts as the 8/4/32 model (which can be reflashed into it - THIS is not a reflashed or overclocked drive though!) - well, reflashed from LKU6 (OEM) to LS3J with an offical DOS update

Does Packet CD still exist? I thought it went out with my old WinOnCd 3.9! LOL!

Never ever had a prob with packet writin progs, i used 2 use DirectCD 4 makin up cdr bit a a time, use InCD now with cdrw & still no probs

Cant see why so many here have so much hatred 4 that kind of prog. have tried multisession in nero, but always seem 2 lose the previos sessions

Don't bother with packet writing- unless you've got a MR enabled drive.
