i need help uninstalling norton system works 2003

i was trying to install norton system works 2003 and there's some problem with the live update so it didnt install completely, but every minute or so, the norton antivirus message keeps popping up saying that there's some kinda error and it's related to msn messenger 5; so i was trying to uninstall norton and then reinstall it, but there's no way to uninstall it; i tried using control panel as well as add/remove plus 2003 but there's no option to uninstall the darn thing!

please help

If you go onto the Symantec site and ask there, I'm pretty sure there is a fix to getting rid of it. Its downloadable, and works. Well, at least it did the last time I used a Norton prog, and THAT worked. Ask on there.

where r these msi files located? program files directory or c:\winnt? i have windows 2000

On My Win98, they are in \windows\installer\

Just use the windows search 2 look for this *.msi*(include the stars)This will list them all & then just do as i said above:)

banzi,

did the liveupdate not work b/c it says something about long file name not enabled? if that's the case, it's because u have ntfs as the file system and u have to go to make a change inthe registry to enable it before it will allow u to install the live update.

ubamous3,

Nope file system is Fat32(98se)

Tried removing the dll as advisded at the Syamntec site, but it still comes up as no products found

Will reinstall at weekend, so hopefully that will solve it, either that or ditch Nav completely:)

Cheers 4 the advice though Bud:)

How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2003 or Norton AntiVirus 2003 Professional Edition

Situation:
You want to know how to uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2003 (NAV) or Norton AntiVirus Professional Edition 2003 (NAV Pro).

Solution:
There is more than one way to uninstall NAV or NAV Pro 2003. Uninstalling from the Program list menu is the recommended method. If you cannot uninstall in the recommended way, then you can use the Rnav2003.exe removal utility.

To uninstall NAV 2003 from the Norton AntiVirus program menu:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Norton AntiVirus, and then click "Uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2003" or "Uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2003 Professional Edition."
2. Click Remove, and then follow the on-screen prompts. Click Yes or "Yes to all" as needed.
3. Restart the computer when prompted.

DL Norton Rnav2003.exe removal utility Now!

Like Banzai said, search and search well. If U don't search there are always remanents of Norton Products scattered around your PC like mosquitos. Now mater hoe U uninstall ( windows uninstallers, appz uninstallers, etc. without searching u'll never get rid of everything especially in the registry..
